Theological Presuppositions

I have believed the Bible ever since I can remember. And I have questioned what it means for just as long.

Before we begin, you must know my presuppositions. There’s one belief I don’t quaver on (although I have wrestled with it). Truth is out there, and we can find and know it. If you don’t believe that to be the case, then we are at an impasse and can proceed no further. Any discussion further along the vine of logic will be fruitless.

The God the Scriptures describe is quite the Being. Perfect. All-powerful. All-knowing. Everywhere-present. I have believed He is who He says He is. That leads me to my second presupposition: The Scriptures are the words of God as He dictated to men who wrote them down. If you do not believe this to be true, we can go no further. Discussion must end, or go back to the presupposition about the Bible and determine its validity. But if Scripture is truth, we must discern it, know it, and act upon it.

So in this blog, you will find a search for truth: truth from God as He has revealed Himself. Truth that affects how I view the world, how I develop, and how I act towards others. I invite you to search with me and discuss in love and with passion and ALWAYS with your mind open to seeking the truth. We’re going to get stuck, we’re going to be deceived. But truth is out there, and I want to find it and live it.
